Work on self-image

Dear Positive Way, How can one "work on their self-image and self-esteem"?  I feel you want to attract good energy even though you are hurting inside? signed, self-image, age 39

Dear Self-image, self-image and self-esteem fluctuates often and all of us experience good days and high moments with it and then all of us have low moments and lower self-esteem days.  This is normal.  Self-image and self-esteem is a journey and not a destination.  It will take time to improve it overall.  A bad hair day can affect the self-image but as you know that can change on a good hair day.  Here are some suggestions to improve it overall:

1.  Take one step at a time.  Only work on one area of concern in this matter.  Decide what bothers you the most at this time and then find some ways to improve it slowly over time.  Please read and practice our Tools to Develop Self-esteem to help you along that path.

2.  Choose your thoughts and words carefully.  "What you think so you shall become" is an old saying that rings true for all of us.  Please read What you think and speak will come back to you.  The book I recommend in that article is of great value and I know you will learn some new ways of approaching your life and improving you self-image.  I wish you much success.  Take it one step at a time and enjoy the journey of self-discovery.

Please understand you have free will.  This advice is given only in the realm of personal growth and self-help. This is not to be considered a substitute for therapy or professional counseling.  We wish you well.
