Understanding Suicide

Suicide according to Webster's New World Dictionary means: the act of killing  oneself intentionally.  Ruin of one's interests or prospects through one's own actions, policies etc.

Can we really understand suicide?  Is it explainable unless you're the mind of the person that commits this devastating act?  I see each letter of the word itself as a way to get some insight into this act.

Sadness that seems to never end

Unsettling feelings of death and dying

Inability to take any positive action for themselves

Can't see or feel any hope for the future

Inactive to the point of not showering or grooming

Dejected, hopeless and feelings of inadequacy

Exiting life is the only option they see at the time

Unless we have walked in their shoes, lived their life, experienced all that they have experienced throughout their lifetime, I think it is impossible to really understand why someone commits suicide.
