Am I Responsible?

This is a question I have asked myself after my two siblings committed suicide.

Am I responsible in anyway for their actions?  Did I say or not say something that may have led to their action in some way? Did I not say enough to prevent it from happening?  Was I responsible in some way?  Could I have said or done something to keep them from this devastating act?

I am sure any loved one of someone that committed suicide has asked themselves a similar question - Am I Responsible for my loved ones suicide?  The answer is NO!  We are not responsible for someone else's actions.  We cannot cause or control how someone else thinks or behaves.  We are not in control of another humans free will.

The only person we can control is ourselves.  We are only responsible for our feelings, our thoughts, our actions, and our choices in life.  No one can make us do anything without our permission, without our consent.  We have and always will have free will and choice over how we lead our lives.  We are not responsible for the choices of others.  We do not control their minds or their feelings.  We can love and support them.  We can pray for them.  We cannot control them and their actions in spite of what others may tell you.  Each person is responsible for themselves and their actions.

I highly recommended the following book.  It offers great insight and wisdom into what our responsibilities are and how we can lead a more peaceful and fulfilling life:
