The Rule of Usage
One of the first of what I call
spiritual practices that made
good sense to me is the rule of usage. The idea
is that if you want to bring more good things into your life you must first
make room for them to come your way. One way to do this is to release
any and all things that you are not currently using in your household or
life overall. For example: I started with my clothing.
Anything that I did not wear during the past year I released. I sold some items at
consignment shops, I gave some to family, and then the majority of things
were given to charities like Goodwill and The Salvation Army. I moved
on to my jewelry and then my kitchen cabinets. I began to clean out
and release all items that I was not using or had not used during the past
year. This is
an on going process for me because as you know we will accumulate more and
more things over time and then eventually we may decide not to use them again.
There was a sense of relief and excitement once I did
this. I felt lighter overall and pleased about passing things on to
someone that may begin to use the items. Within just a few weeks after
going through my things and releasing the items that I was no longer using I
stared receiving some of the things that I had wanted but never made
progress in getting them. Unexpected money came my way, unexpected
gifts and blessings came my way. I had opened the channel that allowed
me to receive these things. I had made room for them to come into my
life. The rule of usage opened up the channel for
receiving more and more.
If you want to expand of your journey of spirituality
then this is an easy first rule to test. The only exception to
this rule of usage can be things of a sentimental value to you even if you are not
actually using the item currently. Once you choose to experience
this rule of usage you can do any of the following with the things
you are not using:
The idea is to release them into someone else's hands so
that they may choose to use the items. Release the items, set
yourself free of not using them and then expect good things to come your
way. You get what you expect to get in life. Good things
will come your way once you start practicing the rule of usage.
