Affirmations
Affirmations:
According to Webster's dictionary affirmation means the act of affirming;
something affirmed; positive declaration; assertion.
Affirmations are statements
or words that have a specific desire or want in them. They can be spoken out
loud or silently thought. It's important to use affirmations that feel
uplifting and that inspire you. When you find an affirmation that is right
for you, you'll feel a sense of rightness in your gut. Once you get in
the grove of using affirmations, there will be a momentum that takes place
and they will feel natural and good.
I have been using
affirmations daily for 16+ years. They are so easy to do and can be
repeated silently throughout the day. Affirmations allow for
more persistent creative thought. You can also say your affirmations
out loud if you prefer. Most of my affirmations are done silently.
I just think the affirmation over and over again while brushing my teeth,
taking a shower, doing housework and/or standing in line anywhere.
Anytime that works for you will do. Repetition is the key.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Affirmations are for you and you only. Keep your desires and
affirmations secret. Keep them to yourself until they manifest. You
keep the magnetic power stronger by not telling anyone. Telling or
talking about your desires and affirmations before manifestation weakens the
attracting power. This is the one time you
should "not share" your information. The bible statement that says
"Go and tell no man" applies in reference to your desires and affirmations. I
never tell anyone about my affirmations, or my wants and desires for that
matter, until they
actually manifest into my life. After they manifest you can shout
them from the roof top!
There are (4) four kinds of
affirmations to choose from:
1. Now
Affirmations. Example: "I am wealthy."
2. Possibility Affirmations. Example: "I am learning how
to become wealthy."
3. Word Affirmations. Example: "Wealth"
4. Solution Affirmations. Example: "I now make better
financial decisions in reference to purchasing clothing and household items
to increase my wealth."
Now
Affirmations. These are affirmations that are made and stated as
if you have already received or attracted what you want or desire. For
example, if you want to be wealthy then your affirmation would be something
like "I am wealthy." It is inferring that you are now wealthy. Many of
those Now Affirmations can feel very uncomfortable, especially if they are
far from the "truth" at the time. However, with persistence and
repetition, they may soon become more comfortable and will seem more
reachable and real.
Criteria for using Now
Affirmations:
 |
You are confident with self and faith |
 |
You are already using many Law of Attraction principles |
 |
You are comfortable with affirmative wording |
Possibility Affirmations. These are
affirmations that are stated in a way that suggest the possibility of
change. They usually begin with an "I am learning how to .....
or "I am in the process of ...." or I am gradually....". These type of
affirmations are for people that feel uncomfortable when using Now
Affirmations. Now Affirmations can make many people feel
that they are lying and that can lead to more negative thought and feeling.
For example, if you use a Now Affirmation like "I am healthy" when you
actually feel sick and tired, then you create an uncomfortable feeling and
sense of fakeness. This disconnect can diminish the positive intent of
the affirmation. In this case, you may want to use Possibility
Affirmations that suggest the possibility of change. For example, "I
am learning how to feel better." or "I am in the process of getting
well." or "I am gradually eating more fruit and vegetables so I can be
healthier."
Criteria for using Possibility Affirmations:
 | You are currently not
comfortable with using Now Affirmations |
 | You feel better when
using words like “I am learning
or I am in the process of or I am gradually…......” |
 | You want to speak to
the journey of achieving your wants and desires |
Word Affirmations.
These are just one word or phrase affirmations without the "I" part. If you
are still struggling with using affirmation statements then I suggest you
begin with Word Affirmations. Start with just saying the word or a phrase
statement that is in reference to your want or desire. For
example: If you want better health then just repeat the words "healthy and
well" several times a day. If you want more love in your life then
just repeat the word "Love" or the words "loving relationship". Again
the key is repetition.
Criteria for using Word Affirmations:
 | The other affirmation
styles don’t fit |
 | You want to create in
a very broad area without setting boundaries |
 | You are willing to be
open to what the Universe offers |
Solution Affirmations.
These are affirmations that state an action plan with a desired goal.
If you already have a desired goal and some action plan in mind then
Solution Affirmations
may resonate more with you. They
combine the two elements of a goal and a means of achieving that goal.
A goal is a desired future result. An action is something that can be
done in the present to achieve the desired goal.
Example: If the goal
is improved self-esteem the affirmation can be something like “I now use
affirmations that express my gratitude about who I am in order to build my
self worth and self-esteem.”
Criteria for using Solution Affirmations:
 | You have a desirable
goal |
 | You now have an idea
about how you might start to achieve the goal |
 | You want to take
immediate action |
Good times to repeat
affirmations are:
 |
While getting ready for
sleep
|
 |
While upon waking
|
 |
While brushing your teeth
|
 |
While taking a shower
|
 |
While doing housework
|
 |
While standing in line at
the grocery store or anywhere for that matter
|
 |
While waiting for a
scheduled appointment time
|
 |
While performing any
mundane tasks
|
 |
While sitting through
commercial time when watching TV
|
Repetition is key.
The more you repeat them, the faster you can start reprogramming your
subconscious thoughts. Anytime negative thoughts enter your mind, you
can
neutralize them by
replacing them with your own positive affirmations. You can also
record your affirmations on a cassette tape in your own voice and play this
tape to yourself as often as possible. Affirmations do work and can be
used in all areas of life. The key is repetition.
If you want you can add
energy to an affirmation. You can dance it, sing it, tap it, make up a
rhythm to go with it, do anything to get the message into your brain.
You can also record your affirmations and then play them back to yourself.
The best time for this is before falling asleep and then again upon waking.
The subconscious mind responds very quickly to your own voice. You are
most relaxed and open to suggestion during these two periods of time.
The Purpose of
Affirmations is:
1. To encourage
more positive thought. They allow us to transmute old negative
thoughts.
2. To create more affirming beliefs that serve you.
3. To change your focus. What we focus on expands.
4. To allow for more creative ideas that will lead to inspired action.
Thought responds to itself. Ideas attract more ideas which gradually grow
into physical form of the desire in mind.
Your sustained thoughts will
attract to themselves kindred ideas. One idea attracts another idea and
so on until your desires are manifested into physical form.
Remember: Thought patterns are acquired, therefore, the mind that
accepted them can reject them through replacement affirmations.
Affirmations are the first and easiest action step you can take to
start attracting that which you most want or desire in life.
Affirmations repeated often help us to believe and gradually they sink
into our consciousness, replacing negative thought with positive thought. To
begin your affirmation process answer this question: What is it that
I most desire at this time in my life? Once you are clear on what you want
or desire then you can choose or create an affirmation that resonates with
you. Pick or create one that you feel good about and that makes
sense to you. When you find an affirmation that is right for you,
you'll feel a sense of rightness in your gut.
Listed below are some examples of affirmations. Use any or all of
these or better yet create your own. The idea is to create
affirmations that you can believe and feel good about now. I
also find it very helpful to add the words "Thank you God" after each
affirmation. You can use the "source" word that you are comfortable
with. Some people use God, some use Universe, The Divine, Source, or
Energy. When you use a "thank you" at the end of your affirmations
just add the source word that resonates with your beliefs.

Once
you have chosen the affirmation that feels right to you ask and answer
this question: "What would you do differently if you had what
you were affirming? What would that look like in your life?
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Affirmations are for you and you only. Keep your desires and
affirmations secret. Keep them to yourself until they manifest. You
keep the magnetic power stronger by not telling anyone. Telling or
