Joyfully Embracing Change
Heraclitus of Ephesus said, "The only constant is change." Why, then, do we humans struggle so against the idea that change begins with us, and that the possibility of a new and better life is waiting for us if only we choose to act upon what we envision for ourselves?
The answer, of course, is fear. Some people fear the unknown. Whatever they dislike about their present existence, and however far it may fall short from the life they dream of living, there are those persons among us who will never take a step toward their own better life out of fear: fear of letting go of their present life, fear that things might not turn out as good as they imagine them, fear that they might fail to achieve that envisioned better life, fear that somehow they might be better off just staying where they are no matter how dissatisfied they may feel in the present. Take your pick, or you could probably come up with a few more reasons on your own. In any case, what it boils down to is a tendency to stay in the old life with all its shortcomings rather than to embrace the new one with all its possibilities.
If we humans choose to stay in our present set of circumstances rather than embracing a new life for ourselves, what do we do in our less-than-satisfying present? Typically, those who refuse to take action do not choose to suffer in silence; they carp and complain, find fault and criticize, point fingers and lay blame, anything rather than look at the true source of all their frustration -- their unwillingness to take action on their own behalf. We have all met people like this, and many of us are related to them in some way. While we may love these people, it is important that we do not use them for our looking glass, nor allow their limited thinking to limit our thinking.
Each person has one life over which he/she has absolute control: his/her own. Only our own life is ours to control; not our parents, nor our children, nor our spouse or life mate, nor anyone else who loves or says they care about us. And this is fair and balanced because just as no other person can control our lives, we have absolutely no control over anyone else's life, either. If you want your life to be different, the difference begins -- or ends -- with you.
The good new is it is never too late to begin embracing that new life. No matter how old you are, no matter your education level or present financial circumstances, you can begin from wheresoever you are -- right now, today. Stop pushing your frustration on those around you and take responsibility for achieving your own dreams; no one else can dream them for you, so they would have no idea where to reach. Only you can see your vision, and only you can bring it about.
Your better life is not a thing to be feared, but to enjoy. If you have been waiting for permission from someone, or the Universe, to go after your dreams then consider this your permission slip. You are now empowered with the recognition of an ability you have always possessed -- the powerful ability to make your outer life match your inner vision. There is no time like the present to begin; how many more days are you guaranteed to live? None of us knows the answer to that question, and the truth is that any of us can be carried out of this life at any time.
Reach out with a joyful heart and embrace the new life that is waiting for you, before your time in this life comes to an end. Choose to act now, before it is too late.
