Feeling Inspired
The days are getting longer. At last, it is no longer dark at 5:30 in the evening but still broad daylight. Longer days make us feel more energetic and high-spirited as our bodies and minds respond to the seasonal lengthening of the sun's rays.
Now we begin to feel that more is possible, that we can accomplish things, and that we have the energy to do what we set out to do. No longer are we hemmed in by the grumpiness that sometimes settles over us from enduring cold, harsh weather. As the worst of Winter's bitter chill slips away, and is gradually replaced by the gentle warming of Spring, we breathe deeper and feel stronger.
We begin to feel, in a word, inspired. The Greek root word for inspired is inspiritus, which literally means 'God breathed'. As you go about your daily round, take notice of the ways in which the changing weather and growing hours of daylight make you feel truly inspired. Feeling inspired can give you the courage to meet whatever challenge you have been putting off facing lately.
Maybe now is the time to awaken from your winter slumber and stretch your energy forward. Look ahead to where you want to be this summer, and use the lengthening of days now to make progress on your goals -- whatever they may be.
