As in past shows, losers will be voted out one by one by their peers until only one is left standing. Periodically they will face business related competitions to determine who will win immunity from the banishment vote at the next tribal council. Competitions will include elements of business planning, raising capital, employee recruitment, leadership, creativity and innovation, product development, cash management, cost reduction, and profit maximization. Only the strongest will survive.

It’s hard to imagine such a show competing with the harsh business realities of today. The only difference might be the presence of TV cameras 24 hours a day to document the triumphs and tragedies of business survival. We might be able to get a glimpse of the Herculean efforts of business owners and managers as they navigate the jungles and deserts of the capitalistic landscape.

Human nature leads us to want to observe the struggle, console the losers, and extol the virtues of the winners. Businesses, with few exceptions however, wage their struggles outside the lime light of the popular press. We hear about the greatest winners and the greatest losers but most of the real heroes are ignored.

Could such a show actually draw an audience to justify its creation as a business venture? I don’t know.
